Uber going to launch AI assistant to answer questions

Uber is sticking to its campaign to attract more electric vehicles onto the ride-hail and delivery platform, and it thinks offering drivers an AI chatbot to answer all their EV (electric vehicle) inquiries would help.

Uber will introduce its AI driver assistance program in the United States in early 2025, utilizing OpenAI's GPT-4o.

At launch, drivers on the ride-hailing network will be able to ask the AI chatbot questions on what it takes to purchase and operate a battery-electric car as opposed to a gas-powered car.

Eventually, drivers will be able to communicate back and forward with the bot while driving to ask text-based inquiries and receive audio responses in return.

The launch of Uber's AI assistance will coincide with the introduction of a EV mentorship program.

In this program well-regarded drivers with EV driving expertise will be able to receive rewards and other benefits by accepting the role of mentor for other drivers who are interested in learning more about what it's like to drive an EV.
