Helping or hurting

There's an old saying that goes, a drowning man will pull you under.

Think about this

You see them struggling, and your heart says, I can fix this.

Sometimes it works.

You toss them a rope, they grab it, and soon you’re both on dry land.

I’ve had days like that, and still live for them today...

But other times? It’s a whole different story.

You jump in too deep, and their panic becomes your nightmare.

Trust me, I’ve been there...

Trying to carry someone’s mess when I could barely carry my own.

Carrying someone's weight while dragging myself down...

I learned the hard way:

An eager heart can easily drown in good intentions.

It’s not that they mean to hurt you, they’re just trying to breathe.

Truth is you'll end up soaked and tired, wondering why you dove in.

In life you need to learn to think twice.

Ask yourself, Can I help without sinking?

If you can, reach out with a word or a small push.

If you can’t, stay on shore and keep your own feet steady.

Helping’s a gift, but it’s not always yours to give.

And that’s okay...

Because sometimes the best way to save someone is to show them they can swim.
